William Shakespeare
The Bard! William Shakespeare (1564 – 1616) wasn't just a playwright, though his 35 known plays are classic. Shakespeare also wrote 154 sonnets and, along with his fellow thespians, had no problem playing bit parts in some of his lavish productions. Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet are his most famous plays though his way with words brought many original expressions like "to be or not to be" or "something wicked this way comes" into our language's lexicon.
